what commitment does this take?
Undoing patterns of behaviour your little one has developed is hard. There are no two ways about it. These are the things I tell every client:
Initially it will probably get worse before it gets better -but it WILL get better.
Progress won’t be in a straight line.- it might feel like you’re taking one step forward, two steps back (that’s why the group is SO important)
For the best results, you need to put the sleep plan first for at least 2 weeks. The holistic approach looks at your whole day… food, routine, naps, environment, activity etc… to give the plan a chance to work, you need to try and stick to it as much as possible. Once your little one is responding well, there are lots of ways to integrate all your hard work in to your normal routine so don’t panic that you are going to be stuck at home forever!
Finally, this plan is as much about you as it is your little one. Being calm, consistent and patient will help you get results much quicker. But I know it’s not easy, especially when you are exhausted, frustrated and anxious! I will support you to find ways of being calm, consistent and patient - even if you can’t imagine it now!
will there be any crying involved?
I am always honest with my clients. Yes, there might be crying. But I will never ask you to leave your little one crying on their own. And the strategies I will suggest will always be age and stage appropriate and everything is at a pace you are comfortable with.
